About 50 percent of Asians are born with what is called a "single eyelid" on each eye. This means that the eyelid lacks a visibly significant crease (which would create what is known as a "double eyelid").

Although there is a wide range of difference among the look of Asians who can be classified as having single eyelids, the majority who are born with single eyelids have less than a 1mm distance between where the eyelashes end and their eyelid begins. Compare this to Western (Caucasian) eyelids, which can be as high as 10mm above the lash line.
