Treatment of Vascular Lesions
Dr. Herbich treats rosacea, port wine stains, and superficial unwanted blood vessels with a pulsed dye laser (PDL). The laser makes use of a specific wavelength of light to treat conditions or spots on the skin consisting of blood and blood vessels. The pulsed dye laser is safe for patients of any age, and is tolerated by most patients without anesthetic.
Sclerotherapy (Spider Vein Treatment)
Sclerotherapy is a technique to remove unwanted spider veins which commonly afflict both men and women. A sclerosing solution is injected into the affected veins which causes the veins to collapse, after which they fade from view. Sclerotherapy does not require anesthesia and can be performed on an outpatient basis, but usually requires multiple treatments to achieve the best results.
Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. These cancer cells can spread, if left unchecked, into other organs and tissues. Skin cancer checkups and treatment are generally performed at yearly intervals.
Keloids (Scar Treatment)
A raised, usually pink or red skin growth originating in a scar area, keloids are sometimes described as "overhealing" scars. Although Keloids are not medically dangerous, these irregularly shaped skin growths do not subside with time, and in fact tend to increase over time. In addition to their obvious potential for wreaking cosmetic havoc, these growths can cause itching, tenderness, and even pain. Surgery, laser treatment, and injections are useful to remove unsightly keloids.
Mole Removal
Moles are not a result of a virus, but are a result of accumulated melanin. It's a good idea to keep a close eye on moles as they change over time. Some changes may signal skin cancer, and an ounce of vigilance can prevent the proverbial pound of cancer care. A mole that looks suspicious is best removed. Biopsies and laser treatments are used to treat moles.
Wart Removal
Unlike moles, these local skin growths result from a virus (the human papilloma virus) and are contagious. While warts frequently resolve themselves, they can take months or even years to do so. Lasers, bleomycin, and liquid nitrogen are commonly used to treat these unwanted growths.
Acne Treatment
Most commonly occurring during adolescence and affecting nearly 90% of teens, acne can persist into adulthood. Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, Accutiane, as well as traditional therapies are offered.
Nevus of OTA/ITO
A hyperpigmentation in which the pigmentation is located in deeper-than-usual layers of the skin, newer laser technology can finally erase these birthmarks.
